Getting Started - Analytics

We've just launched a powerful new analytics dashboard within your Back In Stock (BIS) app to give you deeper insights into how your restock notifications are performing and how your customers are interacting with them. This information will help you make smarter decisions to boost sales and improve your customer experience.

Here's a breakdown of the new metrics you'll find:

New Metrics & How They Help You:

  • Best Time to Restock:

    • What it shows: We analyze the open rates of your past restock notifications to predict the optimal time of day and day of the week to send future notifications.
    • How it helps you: Sending notifications when your customers are most likely to open them significantly increases the chances they'll see your "back in stock" message and make a purchase.
  • Average Wait Time for Restock:

    • What it shows: This is the average time it takes between a customer signing up to be notified about a restocked item and the moment the notification is actually sent to them.
    • How it helps you: A shorter average wait time means customers are notified sooner after the product is available. This reduces the chance they'll look elsewhere and increases the likelihood of a sale
  • Average Time to Click "Buy Now":

    • What it shows: This metric tells you how long, on average, it takes for customers to click the "Buy Now" button in your restock notification after receiving it.
    • How it helps you: Understanding this timeframe can help you gauge the urgency and effectiveness of your notifications. A shorter click time suggests high purchase intent.

  • Conversion Funnel by Channel (Email, SMS, Webpush):

    • What it shows: This visual breakdown shows you how well your restock notifications are converting into sales through different channels (email vs. SMS vs Webpush). You'll see how many notifications were sent via each channel and the resulting conversion rates.
    • How it helps you: By comparing the performance of email and SMS, you can identify which channel is driving more sales. This allows you to focus on optimizing the content, timing, or discounts offered through the better-performing channel.
  • Most Wanted Variants:

    • What it shows: This section highlights which product variants (e.g., specific sizes, colors) have the highest number of customer sign-ups for restock notifications.
    • How it helps you: This clearly indicates which variants have the most demand. Use this information to prioritize restocking efforts for these popular items.
  • Best Converting Variants:

    • What it shows: This metric reveals which product variants, when included in restock notifications, are most successful at generating actual sales.
    • How it helps you: Knowing which variants are "best converters" allows you to tailor your notification strategies. For example, you might consider featuring these high-converting variants more prominently in your marketing.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • What timezones are these metrics based on?

    • All analytics displayed are based on the timezone you have set within your main Shopify store settings. This cannot be adjusted directly within the Back In Stock app. You would need to update your Shopify store's timezone to change this.

  • Are the dates inclusive or exclusive?

    • The data analyzed for any date range you select is inclusive. This means it includes all activity from the very start of the first day (12:00:00 am) to the very end of the last day (11:59:59 pm) within that chosen period.

  • Why is the conversion value attributed to SKU X not a multiple of the price of that variant?

    • The conversion value attributed to a specific SKU takes into account the total value of the entire order that was placed after a customer clicked on a Back In Stock notification for that particular variant. This means if a customer received a notification for a specific size of a t-shirt and then purchased that t-shirt along with other items in your store, the total value of their entire cart is attributed to that initial BIS notification.

  • What does 'Insufficient Data' mean in the key insights?

    • If you see "Insufficient Data" for a particular insight, it means that there isn't enough historical data within the timeframe you have currently selected for the system to generate a reliable calculation. To resolve this, try widening the date range you are analyzing or simply allow more time for Back In Stock actions (like sign-ups and notifications being sent) to occur in your store.

  • How long between a signup (or any other action) occurring until I can see it here?

    • While data updates are generally processed regularly, we don't currently guarantee a specific real-time update timeframe. In most cases, you should see new actions reflected within a reasonable period. If you notice a delay of more than an hour for recent activity to appear, please contact our support team to investigate potential issues.

  • Why are my Conversions higher than my CTA Clicks on the funnel chart?

    • This may be the case if we have attributed conversions through different means than just the CTA click itself. We also look at Shopify order contact details to confirm whether a sale should be attributed to a BIS notification

We're confident that these new analytics features will provide you with valuable insights to optimize your Back In Stock strategy and drive more sales.
